This Cline is no patsy!

Friends of the Rampant Oenophile can appreciate how hard it is for me to buy a bottle with a boring label. In this case, the Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel 2006 has a label suited to the most exclusive wine shops. It's direct, simple, elegant, and informative. It's also boring.

The Zinfandel within, however, is anything but boring. Cline's Zinfandel is smooth, silky, and flavorful. Ripe berries without overt sweetness fill the mouth. A big rich purple bowl in the glass with elegant legs. Exceptional flavor for a $15 bottle. The 2004 was a standout, and the 2006 follows its example faithfully.

Rampant enjoyed it with friends and a bold Mediterranean chicken dish. The rather mellow wine complimented the dish well. Try it with friends tonight. Cline offers a $2 coupon on the bottle neck, which makes this Zin a genuine bargain.
